Biddulph u3a Showcase 2026

Oh what a beautiful morning! 

On  Wednesday, 15th July Biddulph Town Hall was busy with visitors enjoying the activities presented by Biddulph u3a’s brilliant Group Leaders. Visitors could actually ‘have a go’ at several actives including table tennis, bowls, badminton, pickleball ‘pickling’, Mexican Dominoes, bridge, Mahjong and cribbage. Expert tuition was on hand, of course! 

It was lovely to see the interaction between u3a members and prospective members. The atmosphere in the hall was lovely and this was commented on by several people. 

This year some activities were able to take place outside the Town Hall. The Acoustic Guitar Group and our Ladies Keep Fit Group entertained people on the top of the steps and gentle pickleball was able to take on the Town Square.

During the event Biddulph u3a was presented with a certificate from Biddulph Town Council to acknowledge their volunteering within the town.

We have already had a good response in terms of possible new members along with the possibility of two new activity groups, which is a just reward for the efforts made to make each group attractive and welcoming.

A big thank you to everyone who visited, the hardworking ladies iny the kitchen who kept us all going on tea and coffee, Biddulph Leisure Centre for the loan of some sports equipment,  the caretaker and the  ladies in the Town Hall Reception who have been really helpful in the lead up to the event and, last but by no means least, every group leader who made this event such a success.

This day was a time to feel proud of being part of your Biddulph u3a.

Biddulph u3a has its last event of the current term coming up on 27th July, again the venue being Biddulph Town Hall with doors opening at 5:15pm for a 5:30pm start of our Summer Extravaganza which includes our AGM. This year after the ‘business’ duties have finished  we are holding  a musical evening which is free for members and their guests. There will be 3 entirely different musical groups playing and singing music of differing genres from across the decades; with some audience participation of course plus a bit of boogieing for those who feel inclined. The bar will be open and the audience can bring their own nibbles etc. to increase their energy intake ready for their participation!

To be part of this progressive and supportive organisation all you have

 to be is  ‘ no longer looking for full-time employment’.

There are NO age restrictions.
