Come and learn the basic skills of painting with watercolours.
This group is a continuing activity, not just a ten-week course like the previous one.
This is a coached class. Watercolour techniques are explained and demonstrated, starting from the basics. We all work on the same project which is demonstrated in stages. Projects typically last two weeks. Theory is woven through what we do in practice. The group decides which subjects we will paint. Help and support is given according to individuals’ need and ability.
We paint various subjects including landscapes, buildings, flowers, and trees. In addition to basic painting techniques, we learn how to stretch paper onto a board, line and wash, wash and line, using masking fluid and painting with sponges, painting reflections, clouds and rocks. We also look at different shape brushes and their uses and include different painting materials.
Although this group now includes people with some painting experience absolute beginners are welcome and given separate help to get up to speed.
