Biddulph u3a Keeps Dancers in Line!

Biddulph Town Hall was filled with the sounds of country and pop music on Friday 25th September 2026, as it hosted its first-ever Biddulph u3a’s Line Dancing Afternoon. The session drew a lovely crowd of over 60 enthusiastic dancers transforming the hall into a lively, packed dance floor.
Biddulph u3a launched the special daytime event in response to a growing demand for line dancing. The  hall was filled to near capacity with participants eager to learn classic steps and modern routines.
Leading the dancers through their paces was professional instructor Alison Smith, from Uttoxeter. Alison expertly guided beginners through the basics during the opening steps, ensuring that everyone felt confident regardless of their experience level. As the session progressed, the tempo increased, allowing seasoned dancers to showcase their style to popular tracks, also ‘the learners’ were performing their simpler dance simultaneously, to the same music.
For an entry fee of only £2.00, everyone was invited to bring their own drinks and nibbles, creating a relaxed and  friendly atmosphere. The afternoon proved to be a resounding success, and also promoted both physical fitness and enhanced friendships.
The enthusiasm was obvious and as the event drew to a close, members summed up the mood of the room perfectly, with dancers saying, "This was just brilliant!" “Can we do this every week ?”"Excellent teacher!”

Due to the great turnout and the positive feedback, Biddulph u3a  is already looking to build on this success and invite Alison back to Biddulph.

However, to make line dancing a regular highlight on our u3a  calendar, we need a leader, or it could be a group of 2 or 3 leaders, for this to happen? You don't need to be a professional like Alison, you need enthusiasm and be willing to learn along with the group - everyone learning together.

The leader must be no longer looking for full time work and already be, or be prepared to become, a member of Biddulph u3a.

Let’s make this happen!
