Biddulph u3a Showcase 2025

What a wonderful morning!

On Thursday 17th July Biddulph Town Hall was buzzing with visitors enjoying the activities presented by Biddulph u3a’s brilliant Group Leaders. Visitors could actually ‘have a go’ at several actives including table tennis, bowls, pickleball ‘pickling’, Mexican Dominoes, bridge, painting, ukulele playing and many more! Expert tuition was on hand, of course!

It was lovely to see the interaction between u3a members and prospective members. This year we were honoured to have the presence of our Biddulph Mayor, Councillor Adrian Lawton, who spent lots of time chatting with attendees. He seemed to be impressed and congratulated all of the volunteers who help to make Biddulph u3a the successful community organisation that it has become.

The ongoing building work outside the front of the Town Hall did not prove to be an obstacle. The Ladies Keep Fit Group, led by Jane Caddy and our Acoustic Guitar Group, led by David Boothroyd, were not put off as they completed their routines in a more confined space in the foyer. A lovely welcome for all of our visitors.

It seems we had a good response in terms of possible new members which is a just reward for the efforts made to make each group attractive and welcoming.

A big thank you to everyone who visited, the Mayor for his support, the hardworking ladies in the kitchen who kept us all going on tea and coffee, Biddulph Leisure Centre for the loan of some sports equipment, Ken the caretaker, the  ladies in the Town Hall Reception who have been really helpful in the lead up to the event and every group leader who made this event such a success.

This day was a time to feel proud of being part of your Biddulph u3a. Well done everyone!
